Posts for me are far and few in between these days. I've had so much to keep me occupied and it's hard to find the time. In a perfect world I would be able to post at work again. I would be here, reading, posting and commenting every day. However, it is not a perfect world.
Wow, where to start. I can't remember the last time I posted. Was it New Year's? I took a trip to New Orleans. It was, of course, awesome.
Work occupies my days and school and/or homework occupies my night. Ugh...this post is so boring...and the reason that I haven't updated anything in awhile.
Kevin and I are looking into two trips before May. We are talking about going to the Wanee Fest again, and in addition to that, flying back down to Costa Rica...but this time going on a budget and staying in a hostel. We found out that it costs an a pretty penny to fly to Liberia. You can save $400 by landing on the opposite side of the country into San Jose, but there is no way I want to do that again. The 6 hour ride on ridiculouly terrible and bumpy roads (I am NOT exaggerating--thank GOD for the roads we have) and having to listen to mariachi music the whole time was bad enough. The 3-4 hr bus ride with a crazy driver back to SJ, on the swirley, twirly, steep and curly...self nicknamed "el mountains de puke" was not so great either...so we have sworn off that whole deal in general. To be honest with you, it would almost be better to just pay the extra just so we don't have to deal with that. You have NEVER had to ride bad roads till you ride them in a third world nation. Never.
Looking into hostels, I have found a couple online that look promising. I was surprised to see how highly CR hostels are rated! Though at the same time, I'm not. I mean, I took a few things away from Costa Rica last time we went:
1.) Roads there SUCK and NO one that is sane from the U.S. (short of those of us who have a death wish) should attempt to drive them.
2.) Costa Ricans think that U.S. citizens are all about being in their country to find and molest little Tico and Tica kiddies.
3.) Mostly, Costa Ricans are the most laid-back, cheerful, and hardworking people I have ever met.
Thus, due to the last reason, everything is mostly spotless. The road's might be bad, their world is completely a gem in the rough, but heck if they don't know how to put on a happy face for anyone and sweep the dirt from those bumpy roads out of the rooms of their cities. They are sweet people who love others...and made our stay more than pleasent. I want to meet more people there.
Now, I have to say that it I stay in Tamarindo, I would LOVE to stay at Pura Vida! I remember walking by it the first time, and outside, from the dusty road it looked shabby, but from te inside, OMG...it was like they had planted a jungle around you. There was a stone porch, hammocks, a heartily stocked kitchen. Private rooms have AC and it's 22.50 a night for the most expenisive room on the dates Kevin wants to go. If we can go, I'll be stoked.
( Pura Vida Pictures )Sweet deal for 22.50 a night, right? If anyone has ideas as to how I can find a cheap flight into Liberia, let me know. I guess it might be too early to look for deals if we didn't go until April or May...but let those of you who know about booking flight deals let me know. I do not have much experience in it.
Well, that's all for now. Toodles!
